On President's Day, United Way Volunteer Center coordinating community service activity with Credit Union of America

230 employees will make stuffed animal bags for children in crisis, blankets for homeless teens and more

Event: Special Community Service Project During Annual Training

When: Monday, Feb. 19, 2018; 1:50 p.m. - 2:30 p.m.

Where: Drury Inn, 400 West Douglas, Ballroom and rooms 105 and 107


  • 100 stuffed animal bags for the Wichita Police Department -- Employees will stuff animals and then put them into a bag with a book and resources for families. These will be kept in Wichita Police Department's vehicles for officers to give to children they encounter who are in crisis.
  • 25 fleece tie blankets for the Wichita Children's Home SOS program -- Employees will create fleece tie-blankets to be distributed to homeless teens seeking shelter.
  • 800 diaper resource bags -- Employees will assemble bags with diapers, wipes and resources for families in need of assistance.
  • 150 teacher appreciation bags for teachers -- Employees will assemble bags for teachers that include much needed school supplies for their classrooms, books, and other items.
