STATS: 

· 10,543 Sedgwick County residents under the age of 19 are without health insurance - resulting in many not being screened for disabilities that could be addressed before entering school.

 

UNITED WAY ACTIONS:

· Secured Smart Start Kansas grant funding to provide:

· 773 early childhood screenings for vision, hearing and mental health—allowing children to enter school ready to learn.

· primary care services for 137 children

· Connected families to affordable health insurance coverage for children (HealthWave)– 992 children enrolled over 3-year period.

· Funding programs to address health and disability, such as:

· Eye exams, eyeglasses, and prescriptions

· Donated healthcare, medications, tests and procedures

· Prevention activities to promote healthy lifestyles
