Read to Succeed Initiative

Women United Read to Succeed Logo JPGThe Women United® Read to Succeed initiative focuses on helping children read at grade level by third grade, when students begin to transition from “learning to read” to “reading to learn.” Volunteer reading coaches are matched with at-risk students at targeted local elementary schools. They meet weekly with a student for 30 minutes to listen to them read and provide intervention tactics to help them improve their reading skills.

Become a Reading Coach

No financial commitment is needed to volunteer as a reading coach and both men and women are invited to participate. We have volunteers working with students at 15 schools during the fall of 2017, but we are adding more schools in January 2018. If you are interested in volunteering in January 2018, click here.
