Wednesday is final day for general cleanup volunteers in tornado-damaged areas
WICHITA, Kan., April 24, 2012 -- After assessing needs on Monday and Tuesday, United Way of the Plains has determined that one more day is needed for general cleanup volunteers to help in Oaklawn and surrounding areas.
Volunteers should report to the United Way Volunteer Reception Center at the Oaklawn Activity Center, 4904 S. Clifton, Wednesday, April 25, 9 a.m. - 6 p.m.
The center will be closed after that as United Way transitions work to organizations that have specialized equipment and volunteers with specific skills to meet the remaining needs of affected individuals.
Volunteers wanting more information or people needing assistance should dial 2-1-1 (United Way's 24-hour information line).
