  •

WICHITA, Kan., Apr. 16, 2012 -- United Way of the Plains is inviting local residents who have suffered tornado damage to register at the Oaklawn Community Center, 2937 Oaklawn Drive, today 3 - 7 p.m. and tomorrow 10 a.m. - 7 p.m. Residents can identify the type of cleanup needed and United Way will coordinate volunteers to begin working tomorrow.

Beginning tomorrow, Apr. 17, individuals wishing to volunteer for cleanup should go to United Way's volunteer reception center which will be set up at Oaklawn Activity Center, 4904 S. Clifton, 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. Volunteers should be at least 14 years old. Some projects require volunteers to be at least 18 years old. Volunteers are asked to bring any tools they would like to use for the cleanup work.

Individuals wanting more information about getting help or volunteering should call 2-1-1 (United Way's 24-hour information line).
